Privacy Policy
The Odds Terminal — Last updated: 7 July 2026
The Odds Terminal (ABN 97 938 372 625) ("The Odds Terminal", "we", "us", "our") operates the website at theoddsterminal.com.au and the related odds‑comparison tools (the "Service"). We respect your privacy and handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It should be read with our Terms of Service.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to visitors to our website and users of our Service. The Service is intended for people aged 18 and over (see Section 11).
2. Personal information we collect
We aim to collect the minimum information we need. Depending on how you use the Service, this may include:
a) Information you give us
- Email address — when you join our waitlist or create an account.
- Account and profile details — when you create an account. We use Clerk as our authentication provider. Depending on how you sign up, this includes your name and email address, and, if you choose Google sign‑in, the basic profile information Google returns to Clerk (such as your name and email).
- Payment information — when you subscribe to a paid plan. Payments are handled by our payment processor (Stripe); we do not collect or store your full card number.
- Communications — the content of any message you send us (for example, a support email).
b) Information we collect automatically
- Technical and usage data — your IP address, the time of your request, browser/device information, pages viewed, and how you interact with the Service.
- Analytics identifiers — our analytics provider (PostHog) assigns session and device identifiers to understand usage. On waitlist sign‑up, we record the domain of your email (for example, "gmail.com") as an analytics event — not your full email address.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive information. We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send us, details such as health, racial, political, or similar information. While your interest in betting markets could in some contexts be considered sensitive, we minimise what we collect and do not build betting‑behaviour profiles of identifiable individuals.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you — when you submit a form (such as the waitlist), create an account, subscribe, or contact us.
- Automatically — through your browser and through cookies/analytics when you use the Service (see Section 5).
- From our service providers — for example, our authentication, analytics, and payment providers, acting on our behalf.
4. Why we collect and use your information
We use personal information to:
- operate the waitlist and notify you when we launch;
- provide, maintain, and improve the Service and develop new features;
- understand usage through analytics so we can improve the product;
- authenticate you and manage your account and login (via our authentication provider);
- process subscriptions and payments and manage your subscription;
- protect the Service — for example, rate‑limiting and detecting misuse or fraud (we use your IP address for this purpose);
- communicate with you — service messages and, where permitted, marketing about The Odds Terminal (you can opt out at any time — see Section 9);
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
If we ever want to use your information for a materially different purpose, we will seek your consent or otherwise comply with the APPs.
5. Cookies, analytics, and tracking
5.1 We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog records page views, clicks, and usage patterns, and stores identifiers in your browser (via cookies and/or local storage) to recognise a session and device. We route analytics requests through our own domain (theoddsterminal.com.au) before they reach PostHog.
5.2 We use Google Fonts to display typography. Font files may be served from Google's servers; we do not use Google Fonts to track you.
5.3 Your choices. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, use private / incognito browsing, or use browser tools and extensions that block analytics. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Service works.
5.4 No cookie banner. The Service is aimed at users in Australia. Australian privacy law does not require the EU‑style "accept cookies" consent banner, so we do not show one. We keep tracking to a minimum: the analytics described above are first‑party (served through our own domain), we do not run third‑party advertising or cross‑site tracking cookies, and you retain the browser controls in Section 5.3. Your continued use of the Service, and the account and privacy choices you make, are the basis on which we handle your information under this policy and the APPs.
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the Service, with service providers who act on our behalf under contract, and as required by law.
| Provider | What they do | Information involved |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Authentication and account management (including Google sign‑in) | Name, email address, Google profile basics, login/session data |
| Vercel | Website hosting and delivery | Technical data (e.g. IP) in server logs |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Usage data, analytics identifiers, email domain on sign‑up |
| Google (Sheets / Apps Script) | Stores waitlist sign‑ups | Email, IP address, timestamp |
| Resend | Sends and notifies us of emails | Email address, timestamp, IP address |
| Stripe | Payment and subscription processing | Name, email, and payment details you give at checkout |
We may also disclose personal information: to comply with a law, court order, or regulator; to enforce our Terms; to protect the rights, safety, or property of us, our users, or others; or in connection with a sale or restructure of our business (to a successor that agrees to handle it consistently with this policy).
7. Overseas disclosure (APP 8)
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States (for example, Clerk, Stripe, PostHog, Resend, Vercel, and Google). Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs. By using the Service and providing your information, you consent to this overseas disclosure. Where required, we will take additional steps to protect your information.
8. Data security and retention
8.1 We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access — for example, serving the site over HTTPS, limiting access, and rate‑limiting abusive requests. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8.2 We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as required by law. For example, we keep waitlist details until we have launched and contacted you (plus a reasonable period), and account/billing records for as long as needed and as required for tax and legal reasons. When no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de‑identify it.
9. Marketing and your choices
9.1 Where permitted, we may send you marketing about The Odds Terminal. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and we will act on opt‑out requests promptly, consistent with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).
9.2 Opting out of marketing does not stop essential service messages (for example, about your account, billing, or these policies).
10. Accessing and correcting your information (APPs 12–13)
10.1 You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, or incomplete. Contact us at theoddsterminal@gmail.com.
10.2 We will respond within a reasonable time. We may need to verify your identity first. There is normally no charge, though we may charge a reasonable cost for substantial access requests, and we will tell you in advance.
10.3 You may also ask us to delete your information (for example, to be removed from the waitlist). We will do so unless we are required or permitted by law to keep it.
11. Children
The Service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Complaints
12.1 If you have a privacy concern or complaint, contact us first at theoddsterminal@gmail.com. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within a reasonable time.
12.2 If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC):
- Website: oaic.gov.au
- Phone: 1300 363 992
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify you. Please check back periodically.
