Responsible Gambling
The Odds Terminal — Last updated: 27 June 2026
The Odds Terminal is a betting odds‑comparison and sports‑data tool. We help you compare prices and analyse information — we are not a bookmaker, we do not accept bets or hold any money, and nothing on our service is encouragement to gamble or a guarantee of a win.
Betting is meant to be entertainment, and it carries real risk: you can lose money. This page sets out how to stay in control, how to recognise when gambling is becoming a problem, and where to get free, confidential help in Australia.
If you or someone you know needs help right now: Gambling Help Online — 1800 858 858 (24/7). In an emergency, call 000.
1. Our commitment
- We present odds and statistics as information, not as tips, betting advice, or an inducement to bet. See our Terms of Service (§1, §12) and Privacy Policy.
- Our service is for adults aged 18 and over only.
- We do not target our marketing at minors or at people who have self‑excluded from gambling.
- We never suggest that our tools guarantee a profit. No tool can remove the risk from betting.
2. Stay in control
A few habits that help keep betting safe and fun:
- Set a budget — decide what you can comfortably afford to lose before you start, and stick to it. Treat it like the cost of entertainment, not an investment or a way to make money.
- Set a time limit — long sessions make it harder to make clear decisions. Take regular breaks.
- Never chase losses — trying to win back money you've lost is the fastest way to lose more.
- Don't bet to escape — betting to cope with stress, boredom, loneliness, or low mood is a warning sign, not a solution.
- Don't bet under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or when you're upset or tired.
- Keep gambling in balance — never bet money meant for rent, bills, food, or family, and never borrow money to bet.
- Use the limit tools your bookmaker offers (see §4).
3. Know the warning signs
Gambling may be becoming a problem if you (or someone close to you):
- spend more time or money on betting than you intended, or than you can afford;
- chase losses, or bet bigger to feel the same excitement;
- borrow money, sell things, or skip bills to keep betting;
- feel restless, anxious, or irritable when trying to cut down or stop;
- lie about or hide how much you bet;
- neglect work, study, relationships, or responsibilities because of betting;
- feel guilt, anxiety, or low mood linked to gambling.
If any of these feel familiar, you're not alone, and help is available and effective — see §5.
4. Tools that can help
From your bookmaker. Australian licensed bookmakers are required to offer responsible‑gambling tools. Use them:
- Deposit limits — cap how much you can deposit per day/week/month.
- Time‑outs / take‑a‑break — lock yourself out for a set period.
- Activity statements — review your real deposits, bets, wins, and losses honestly.
- Account closure — close an account you no longer want.
Self‑exclusion — BetStop. BetStop is the National Self‑Exclusion Register. Registering once blocks you from all licensed Australian online and phone wagering operators for your chosen period (from 3 months up to a lifetime). It's free. → betstop.gov.au · 1800 BETSTOP (1800 238 7867)

6. Protecting young people
